About Northern Cyprus
Why be anywhere else?
With the endearing qualities of the
Turkish people, the sleepy villages lying at the foothills
of the lush green mountain side, where firs stand tall
and strut their stuff and show off their finest livery,
the heady aroma of wild flowers, the rugged coastline
dotted with a plethora of coves, sandy beaches and
clear shallow waters, you realise that Northern Cyprus
has something extraordinarily special.
Northern Cyprus hasn't been affected by mass tourism. In fact, on average, about 300,000 tourists visit the northern side of the island a year compared to 3 million on the southern side. It is no exaggeration to say that it is one of the most underdeveloped and unspoiled places in western Europe.
Not only is it stunningly beautiful it is also has a calmness, a tranquility, that infuses visitors with a feeling of well-being. And when you add the genuine friendliness of Turkish people, the unhurried pace of life and the knowledge that tomorrow will bring another glorious clear blue sky, the recipe for contentment is most assuredly complete.
Northern Cyprus is blessed with the most pleasing summer climate you could imagine. April to June are the fragrant months with flowers and scented citrus groves blooming into life. The hundreds of wild flowers make this a colourful and fragrant
paradise.
August and September is ideal for sun-seekers with temperatures reaching the 90s, and sea temperatures averaging 70. Too hot for some, but for others a sun-worshipper's paradise.
Winters are surprisingly mild with temperatures in December and January often in the high 50s, similar to springtime in England but with more hours of assured sunshine. This time of the year is perhaps the most beautiful time to visit Northern Cyprus as the whole Island comes to life after the hot summer months.
The fields are covered in a blanket of greenery. And the wild flowers are a kaleidoscope of colours (the blood-red petals of the bougainvillea are especially beautiful).
If you add to this the charming, attentive ever-smiling waiters serving inexpensive, wholesome food on open-fronted terraces, the quality and choice of the Island's hotels, the peacefulness and the pure bliss of this part of the planet, then why be anywhere else?
